Yu Televentures Ltd, a subsidiary of Micromax, launched an upgraded version of the Yureka in late July 2015 known as the Yu Yureka Plus. The smartphone was priced at Rs. 9,999 but a price cut on 3rd August 2015. Now the smartphone has a price tag of Rs. 8,999 which makes it even more attractive.

Micromax has refreshed the Yu smartphone line with the new addition of Yureka Plus.

The Yureka Plus boasts of a Full HD display with 1920*1080 resolution compared to the HD 1280* 720 Display on the YU Yureka.

The phone has the same 5.5-inch screen like the older Micromax Yureka. The pixel density and display on the Yureka plus is going to be above 400 PPI. The screen also has the Gorilla Glass 3 protection along with oleophobic coating.

The Yureka Plus is launched by Yu in competition to the Lenovo K3 Note and the Xiaomi Mi4i both of which have the Full HD resolution. Other than the display rest of the specs looks very similar to the existing Micromax Yu Yureka smartphone which is available at Rs. 8,999.

The Yureka Plus is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 Octa-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz. The smartphone has 2 GB of ram which is adequate for multitasking and playing android Games. The Yureka Plus runs on the Cyanogen OS version 12 moded on top of the Android Lollipop.

Yureka plus offers 4G LTE connectivity along with the native support for 3G/2G and WIFI. The smartphone has 13 MP rear camera almost similar to the Yureka along with 5 MP front camera for clicking selfies.

The mobile will be available in Moondust grey and white colors. The sale will start on Amazon from 24 July 2015.

Display

Yu Yureka Plus and Lenovo K3 Note, both house a similar 5.5-inch, 1920×1080 pixels, 401 PPI display. Yu Yureka Plus packs Gorilla Glass 3 for added protection, which Lenovo K3 Note lacks. A big plus for the Yureka here with an added layer of protection.

Processor and RAM

YU Yureka Plus runs on octa-core Snapdragon 615 (1 GHz quad-core + 1.7 GHz quad-core along with Adreno 405 GPU) whereas the Lenovo K3 Note runs on MediaTek MT6752 (with Mali-T760MP2 GPU) having all its 8 CPU cores ticking at 1.7 GHz. Both phones also have 2 GB RAM for fluid multi-tasking. Not really too much in terms of the performance gap, however, the Snapdragon outweighs the MediaTek in this case by a little margin.

Storage

YU Yureka Plus and K3 Note both have 16 GB ROM along with support for micro-SD cards up to 32 GB. That makes them even and good enough for running Android Lollipop with a lot of apps installed.

Camera

Both phones also feature 13 MP rear AF camera coupled with a 5 MP front shooter for taking selfies. Yureka Plus sports an LED flash at the back whereas the K3 Note features a dual-LED flash at the back.

Yu Yureka Plus has a very good camera sensor from Sony and camera on the K3 Note is also not bad.

Operating System

YU Yureka Plus runs on a CM12 version of Android Lollipop with some extra Cyanogen Mod goodies. It should also be noted all CM OS running phones would receive latest OS updates for a significant amount of time which is usually greater than what the phone manufacturers generally provide.

While Lenovo K3 Note runs on Android Lollipop along with Lenovo Vibe UI 2.0 on top of it. We may be inclined towards the Cyanogen mod, after all how wrong can be OnePlus guys who choose it as a primary driver in OnePlus One.

On the connectivity front, both the smartphones offer faster internet with support for 4G LTE in India.

Battery Life

Lenovo K3 Note clearly get’s an upper hand in this section by featuring a 3,000 mAh battery in comparison with Yureka Plus’s 2,500 mAh battery. Now since both phones feature similar resolution displays and processors, Lenovo K3 Note offers much better battery backup than the YU Yureka Plus. You can expect 15% extra battery life from the K3 Note Vs Yureka Plus.

Yureka Plus and Lenovo K3 Note come at a price tag of Rs. 8,999 and Rs. 9,999 and offer almost similar specifications so choosing one over the other would be a matter of personal requirements and design preferences. Both smartphones are good.

One important point in favor of Lenovo K3 Note is it gets an upper hand for its bigger battery 3000 mAH. The key advantage of  Yu Yureka Plus would be the choice for Cyanogen mode, gorilla glass protection, and faster updates. Also, the Yureka costs rs. 1000 lesser compared to the K3 note which may tip the scales in its favor.

Another alternative is, if you love to use Pure Android and love to get regular updates then go for Meizu M1 Note priced at Rs. 9,999. If you have a higher Budget, better go for a more refined Motorola Moto G (3rd Gen) available at Rs. 13,999 (2GB RAM variant).
