Zopo has been in the Indian market for a while, and they have previously launched smartphones like Zopo Speed 7, 7 Plus and Zopo Hero 1. Zopo also has a more affordable smartphone series known as the color series which is also available for purchase in India.
The Zopo phones have not been able as successful in India as LeEco, Xiaomi or Meizu in India. The new Zopo Speed 8 is the first smartphone in India with Deca-core processor. The Zopo Speed 8 is the successor to the Zopo Speed 7.
The all-new Speed 8 sports a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD IPS display with a Zopo branding at the back. The Speed 8 features dual front-facing speakers, which can provide better sound compared to most smartphones. The phone looks minimalistic from the front side. It features a fingerprint sensor at the back along with a circular camera and Led flash.
Under the hood, the phone is powered by the Deca-Core MediaTek Helio X20 processor clocked at 2.3 GHz along with the 700MHz Mali-T880 MP4 GPU. The smartphone comes with 4GB of RAM. Sadly it features only 32 GB of inbuilt storage and lacks expandability option. This might be a bummer for many buyers looking for larger storage space.
The Zopo Speed 8 scores an impressive 90,137 on the Antutu Benchmark, falling short of the 1 lakh mark.
Zopo Speed 8 also impresses in the optics department with it’s 21 MP rear camera with dual LED Flash, PDAF, f/2.2 aperture, Sony IMX230 sensor, 6P lense.
There is also an 8 MP front-facing snapper with LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, OV8856 sensor, 4P lenses. Sadly it misses out on OIS, and there’s also no mention about EIS. Also, higher Mega-pixel don’t mean a better camera we have seen manufacturers like Samsung drop MP count on the S7 from S6 and yet offer better optics capability.
As a whole, the smartphone feels thicker but lighter at the same time with measuring at 152.5 x 76.35 x 9.8mm and weighing at 150 gram.
The extra thickness is owed to the massive 3600 mAh battery pack which powers the Zopo Speed 8. The phone comes with fast charging capability through the USB type-C port. The smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow which will enhance the battery life even more with the help of “Doze Mode.”
The Zopo Speed 8 have all essential connectivity options like 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, NFC, USB OTG.
The Zopo Speed 8 looks expensive for the price tag of Rs 29,999, and it directly puts it in a tough spot, with OnePlus 3 being a cheaper option.
The phone will directly face competition with Xiaomi Mi 5, Le Max 2, OnePlus 3, in the Indian market. The smartphone is available on Snapdeal to purchase, and there are flash sales, nor can we think off at this price point. The phone is available in Black and Silver color options.
