Zopo Speed 8 Powered by Monstrous 10 Core Helio X20 Processor

World’s first Decca core smartphone Zopo speed 8 got launched at MWC couple of days back. Mediatek’s latest High-end processor Helios X20  Debuts with the launch of New Zopo Speed 8.

It is a bit strange that MediaTek has chosen a little-known phone maker Zopo for releasing its Helio X20.  Similar to Qualcomm choosing LeEco for the launch of new  Snapdragon 820 processor.

Zopo is a Chinese smartphone maker who entered India recently with the launch of Zopo speed 7.

The company is not well known like Xiaomi or Huawei, but the company stepped into the limelight with the Helio X20, and at the MWC, the Zopo Speed 8 grabbed much attention carrying the title of World’s first Decca-core smartphone.

The smartphone comes with 5.5 inches Full HD screen(1920*1080 pixels) with a pixel density of 401 PPI.

The processor supports a refresh rate of 120 frames per second for display, but yet it is not shared if it is available with the Zopo Speed 8.

The phone carries 4 GB of RAM and runs on the latest Android Marshmallow 6.0 operating system.

It is worth to mention that the Helio X20 processor, which comes with ten cores offers a different internal architecture compared to the older generation of processors.

The chipset architecture is based on a Tri cluster the two clusters are Quad cores (Cortex A53 at 2.0 GHz),, and the third one is a dual core set up ( Cortex A72 at 2.5  GHz).

MediaTek compares the tri cluster approach to a vehicle gear. The standard tasks are carried by the low power cluster while heavy tasks are done by the high power cortex A72 cluster.

As per MediaTek, the 10 core setup makes the whole system more energy efficient.

While there a is the difference in opinion regarding this Apple achieves much better power efficiency and performance by using just 2 cores with the A9 chipset which is one of the fastest chipsets in the world.

One the other hand Qualcomm has also moved back to Quad –Core architecture with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor which also uses two high power cores and two low power cores to make it more energy efficient. The Snapdragon 810 was an 8 Core processor.

On Antutu the Zopo speed 8 had scored 76266 points, on Geek bench the phone got a score of 1622 for single core and 4124 on multi core tests. That is not an impressive performance for, a Decca, core processor. Apple A9 processor hits 1.3 lakh score on Antutu, and Snapdragon 820 also reaches a similar score on Antutu.

Zopo Speed 8 camera packs a Sony IMX630 sensor with 21 MP resolution, and a Dual LED flash. The front camera carries 8 MP resolution sensor with a dedicated L.E.D flash.

At the front two speaker grills are provided for better sound output.

Powering the smartphone is a 3600 mAh battery pack which is sufficient to last all day and the Zopo Speed 8  also supports fast charging.

Smartphone’s back is given a brushed metal finish alongside a fingerprint sensor placed below the camera; the fingerprint scanner also doubles as a shutter button for the camera.

Connectivity options include 4G LTE, NFC, and the reversible Type-C USB port
