Initial Thoughts And Advice
Most gaming laptops suffer from heating, and managing heat in a full-size 15.6-inch gaming laptop is relatively easy due to larger fans and bigger heat sink.
In small form factors like the Asus G14 or the ROG Flow X13, managing heat is more difficult, and these machines can run hot.
You would have noticed that Asus uses only the most basic GTX 1650 GPU in all configs. This is primarily done to keep the thermals in control.
If they were using an RTX 3060 or even a GTX 1660 Ti, the Notebook would become super hot.
Considering that we are getting only the GTX 1650, it is best suited for not too demanding games.
Notably, the laptop supports external E-GPU, that’s another story where to find one, and the current prices are also insane for Graphics cards.
Nevertheless, I think the base model with the Ryzen 5800Hs, available for Rs. 1.24 Lakh is a good choice due to the following reasons:
- Hardly any performance difference vs. higher models that are expensive.
- Higher models with beefier processors may have more thermal issues.
- Do you need a 4K display on a 13-inch laptop?
- The 4K panel also negatively impacts the battery life.
You may go with the higher model if you need 32 Gigs Ram for running Adobe Apps or other design, Video Editing applications.
If you have a simple requirement for playing games and doing work, the base model is sufficient.
If you are buying it for gaming, I think you must look at the new Asus Zephyrus G14 and even the Zephyrus G15, which offer far superior graphics performance.
