Like every year, this year too Oneplus is expected to launch 2 new flagship phones – Oneplus 9 and the more premium Oneplus 9 Pro.

Also, at the end of this article, I have shared how the price for Oneplus phones have risen since 2014 when they launched the Oneplus One for just Rs. 21,999. But let’s first check out the available details about the One

Last year Oneplus launched the Oneplus 8 Series and the phones are a top seller in the market, thanks to flagship specs, great OS experience, and not-so-eye-watering prices.

Now we have got some new leaks about the upcoming OnePlus 9 series – OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro that is likely to launch in early April 2021.

OnePlus 9 series

Let’s start with the expected specs of the upcoming Oneplus 9

OnePlus 9 may come with a 6.58-inch Fluid AMOLED display and will have a left align punch-hole selfie camera along with FHD+ resolution including a 120Hz refresh rate.

Powering the phone probably be the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Octa-core fabricated on a 5nm chipset coupled with Adreno 660 GPU.

There is also a possibility that Oneplus may think of using the Snapdragon 870 that was recently launched for the Oneplus 9.

It operates on Android 11 based on Oxygen OS.

Talking about cameras, some report says that the OnePlus 9 comes with Triple rear camera setup including a 48MP main camera, a 48MP ultra-wide camera, and an unknown third sensor. Earlier it was reported that the Oneplus 9 can have a new 50 MP sensor but the recent leaks hint at Dual-48 MP  cameras and a third camera that can be 8 MP.

Additionally, it may come with a 32MP selfie camera.

It may come in only two variants that are

  • 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.
  • 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.

The upcoming phone packs with a 4350 mAH battery capacity along with 65 Watts warp charging and 30 Watts wireless charge.

I am expecting that the company will launch the Oneplus 9 for Rs. 42,999 for the base variant with 8 GB ram and 128 GB storage. The higher version can cost Rs. 44,999.

Expected Specs of upcoming oneplus 9 pro

The key difference in the Oneplus 9 and 9 Pro is going to be in the cameras and the display. These are the recent leaks based on the Video from Youtube Dave2D showcasing the new Oneplus 9 Pro. The company has tied up with Hasselblad (a premium camera manufacturer) to fine-tune the cameras on the upcoming Oneplus 9 Pro.

Oneplus 9 Pro

The above image clearly shows the new design and a new color for the Oneplus phone. The backside is glass and it comes with a metallic (steel) frame providing more rigidity to the structure. At the rear, we can see 4 cameras and the Hasselblad branding.

OnePlus 9 Pro comes with a 6.78-inch Fluid AMOLED curved edge display along with a left-aligned punch hole notch at the front, QHD+ resolution, and a 120Hz refresh rate.

For powerful performance, The phone has a flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Octa-core processor(5nm) along with Adreno 660 GPU.

The OnePlus 9 Pro operates on Android 11 along with Oxygen OS.

At the rear, it comes with a Quad camera setup carrying a 64MP primary camera, a 64MP ultra-wide lens, and there are two smaller cameras.

Also, it can launch with a new 32 MP front selfie camera to capture detailed images.

It may come in two variants:

  • 8GB RAM and 128 GB storage.
  • 12GB RAM and 256 GB storage.

The OnePlus 9 Pro is fueled with a 4600mAH battery capacity along with a 65 Watts warp charge and 30 Watts wireless charge support.

The base variant for the Oneplus 9 Pro can cost Rs. 55,990 and the top model may cost Rs. 59,990.

We are not expecting a major price increase for both the Oneplus 9 or 9 Pro as the company has already increased the prices in past few years.

Still, the phones are cheaper when compared to the top offering from Samsung or Apple or even the Oppo Find X2 or the upcoming Find X3.

Some Expected common features

Both smartphones may come with an in-display fingerprint sensor and face unlocking support as well.

It may also come with 5G network connectivity.

Both the phone will lack the 3.5 mm headphone jack and will also there is not going to be any expandable storage.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon is a 5G chipset and undoubtedly both the smartphones come with 5G support and we are expecting Oneplus to have Dual 5G for both the sim-cards.

Both upcoming phones are going to be lightweight as per some reports and the thickness of the phone varies that is OnePlus 9 will be slightly thinner than the OnePlus 9 Pro.

Price Increase For Oneplus Phones over the Years | From Flagship Killer to a flagship.

When Oneplus started they posed as a small brand but of course, were part of Oppo or to be more precise was part of the BBK electronics.

The company did a great job and offered value for money offering and created a big base for the brand. As the brand matured they started charging more but still, they offer great products with a lot more features than when they started, and that too at an affordable rate.

Oneplus is an excellent brand and their Oxygen Os is a real differentiated in the overcrowded Android market.

Even if they are charging more now but the phones from the brand are one of the best for the price. Apple and Samsung make great flagship phones but they are way too expensive than the Oneplus offerings.
