Updated – August 2022- Nvidia has launched the much-anticipated Geforce GTX 1630 graphics card globally, and the GPU will soon go on sale in India and other countries.
The Nvidia GTX 1630 arrives almost three years after Geforce GTX 1650. The GTX 1630 will replace the old GTX 1050 Ti that many gamers still use for 1080P gaming.
Price, Availability – Nvidia GTX 1630
The Nvidia GTX 1630 costs $150/$160 in the US, and the price in India is Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 17,000 depending on the brand and model.
Also, I received price details from GPU manufacturer ColorFul, and they have suggested a $169 MRP that translates to Rs. 15,600. EVGA has listed the Graphics card for $199, which seems to be high.
Currently, the GTX 1650 is available for Rs. 20,000, and the GTX 1050 Ti is available for close to Rs. 17,000.
Considering some mark-ups in India, GTX 1630 will cost 15k to 17K depending on the brand and availability. Also, since GPU prices are declining, we can expect the price to be less insane than before.
The GTX 1630 will not go on sale immediately but will take a few weeks to become available. I will update you as we get the exact dates for launch in India.
Specs and Performance – GTX 1630
The Nvidia GTX 1630 is based on the Turing architecture (TU117-150), similar to the RTX 2060/2070 graphics cards released in 2018. The GPU is manufactured on the 12 Nm process. Notably, the RTX 3000 series is based on the newer Ampere architecture.
The GPU comes with just 512 Cuda Cores, less than the 896 Cuda cores on the GTX 1650 and 768 on the GTX 1050 Ti. The memory bus width is also limited to 64 Bits instead of 128 on the GTX 1650.
The GPU has a 12 Gbps memory clock speed and 4 GB GDDR6 VRAM. The VRAM and the memory clock speed are similar to the GTX 1650.
The memory bandwidth is reduced to 96 GB/s from the 192 GB/s on the GTX 1650.
The Graphics card comes with 75 Watts TDP and will work with most power supplies with 400 to 450 Watts output.
Further, the Graphics card comes with a Core clock speed of 1785 Mhz, but several cards will have over 1800 MHz clock speed.
The clock speeds are faster than on the GTX 1630 compared to the 1050 Ti and the GTX 1650.
Overall the gaming performance for the GTX 1630 could be slower or comparable to the GTX 1050 Ti due to the reduced memory bandwidth.
The benefit is the higher clock speed that can make up for the reduced bandwidth.
Nvidia GTX 1630 Gaming Performance and Benchmarks
The below gaming benchmarks were shared by Inno 3D on the Chinese social media and based on the early benchmarks the graphics card is slower than the GTX 1050 Ti that was launched 6 years back for Rs. 12,000.
In some of the games the GTX 1630 can match or outpace the GTX 1050 Ti. The GTX 1630 is faster than the GTX 1050 which was available for 10K back then.
Considering the gaming benchmarks, it is not very fast and that was also expected as Nvidia still have the mainstream GTX 1650 available in the market.
