The OPPO Reno6 series offers some noteworthy camera features, and I would like to share this upfront before we get to the other specs and details.
What’s the new Bokeh Flare Portrait Video Mode?
The Reno6 series comes with the leading new Bokeh Flare Portrait Video.
Most smartphones offer high-quality video recording, but that usually doesn’t come with a background blur or bokeh, as seen in DSLR videos.
The new Reno6 phone has Portrait Video Mode that enables a creamy-looking bokeh in the videos.
This feature can be convenient for content creators and general use as the background blurring makes the subject stand out.
Another cool feature is the AI Highlight Video that can automatically detect ambient light and make video optimizations something you would have seen on other phones for still photos.
The AI Highlight Video helps you shoot better videos in all lighting conditions with clearer, brighter, and more vividly colored portrait videos.
Additionally, we have focus tracking for videos that allows you to track the subject, incredibly useful when you want to capture kids or moving subjects in the videos.
A Flash Snapshot image mode for sports photography can help capture moving subjects with a quick shutter speed to avoid blur images.
Lastly, we have editing tools like AI Palette and the new So-loop- Smart Video Editor for quickly editing videos. It has pre-loaded templates and the latest music to add to your videos.
The software experience is a big-big factor that makes a good phone great. OPPO is doing some innovative work in this direction. And I like it!
OPPO shared during the official presentation that over 70 million Reno smartphone users across the globe capture 2 billion photos and over 200 million videos every month. People love taking photos and Videos, and OPPO is utilizing AI algorithms to offer an unparalleled video experience – “a studio in your pocket”!
Sharing his views on the launch, Damyant Singh Khanoria, CMO, OPPO Mobiles India Pvt. Ltd., said, “At OPPO, customer satisfaction lies at the ethos of our product development and growth trajectory, and hence we have always been committed to delivering an all-rounder smartphone with flagship-grade features to our consumers. The highlight features are great cameras, blazing-fast performance, 5G, crazy fast charging speeds, and better software integration.
Also, these are not bulky, unlike those 5000 or 6000 may bricks that are hard to use with one hand.
Overall a good upgrade from the outgoing Reno 5 series, and in case you are planning to buy one, don’t forget to grab the credit card or EMI option to make these good offerings great value for money.

The new Reno 5 Pro is the successor to the Reno 4 and the key highlight of the device is 5G connectivity.
As Mr. Damyant Khanoria (CMO, Oppo India) said that, The Reno series always comes with the industry’s leading innovations like the world’s first bokeh effect in Pop-up camera, the first 40MP dual punch hole camera. The Oppo Reno 5 Pro is also continuing this legacy by becoming the first phone to provide this flagship MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ processor in India.
Let us discuss the overall specs of its latest Reno series phone in detail:
Design – The phone comes with a glass back cover with a matte look, also provides scratch-resistant and sparkling detailing. The front side has a tiny punch hole camera and the display has curved edges.
The phone is sleek and measures 7.6mm in thickness and weighs just 173 grams.
Display – The Reno 5 Pro comes with 6.5 inches super AMOLED display with FHD+ (2400*1080) resolution and a 20:9 aspect ratio. The screen has 402ppi pixel density including a variable refresh rate of up to 90Hz. Additionally, the display comes with HDR10+ support and also has a 100% DCI-P3 color gamut to produce vibrant and accurate colors.
The display has good sunlight legibility and a peak brightness of 800 nits.
Performance – Reno 5 Pro is the first Reno series phone to be powered with the flagship MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ Octa-core processor fabricated on a 7nm chipset and ARM G77 MC9 836MHz GPU that provides extremely powerful performance while playing games and in other graphics-intensive activities.
The phone operates on ColorOS 7.1 based on the latest Android 11.
Camera – Premium Oppo phones always come with incredible cameras and the 5 Pro is no exception. It has a drool-worthy Quad camera setup including a 64MP main camera with an f/1.7 aperture, an 8MP (f/2.4) ultra-wide-angle camera, a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP mono lens that provides you beautiful images.
Also, Oppo is boasting of better video quality at night or in low light conditions as the camera comes with a new LIVE HDR feature that helps to retain better details in shadows and also helps in reduction in exposure in the highlights.
Additionally, It has a 32MP ultra-clear front camera with an f/2.4 aperture. So that you take beautiful selfies of yours and with others.

Battery – It comes with an optimal 4350mAH battery capacity and 65 Watts SuperVOOC 2.0 flash charge support for long usage. The supplied charger can charge the mobile from 0% to 100% in just 30 minutes. Incredible!
Audio – There is support for Dolby Audio and it comes with excellent speaker sound quality and headphone output. The phone supports SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX HD, LDAC to ensure you get the best audio quality when using TWS headphones.
Price, Availablity & Color variants – The Reno 5 Pro is available in two mesmerizing color options Astral blue and Starry black and the price of the phone in India is Rs 35,990. The phone will be available for purchase on Amazon India and retail stores from 22 January 2021.
The Reno 5 Pro offers an excellent thin and sleek design with incredible cameras. The display is excellent, and also it comes with crazy-fast charging speeds.
It doesn’t have a very large battery, and to me, that is a big positive, as huge batteries turn phones into bricks that are hard to carry and use.
The Dimenisty 1000 is not a match for the SD 865 or the SD 888 but is comparable to the SD 765 used in the Oneplus Nord or the Vivo V20 Pro which are available for a slightly lower price point.
Overall, I think the price is a bit higher, it would be great if Oppo can lower it by 3-4k.
