9 Best Processors Gaming PC Build India 2015

If you are building a gaming PC, here are the top suggestion for the processors which you can choose depending upon your budget. We have listed best processors starting from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 25,000.

The processor ranking is done based on performance per rupee and value for money. We have classified the processors in 3 categories :

  1. Entry Level Processors.
  2. Enthusiast or Mainstream processors.
  3. High End/ Ultimate Processors for Gaming PC.

I have a neutral view for AMD/Intel for inclusion in this list. The only consideration is the return on investment.

Also noticeably the cost of PC Hardware/ Processor is different in India in comparison to US/Canada/UK markets. Hence recommendations in US/UK may or may not be very relevant in Indian context.

Best Processors for Gaming PC Build

I have also mentioned the approx. budget and linked some of the earlier articles which will help you choose the right compatible components for you gaming pc setup.

Let’s Begin with entry-level Processors.

Entry Level Processors For Gaming PC

Intel G3258 Haswell Unlocked

Price Rs. 4,500

Intel 3.2 GHz LGA 1150 G-3258

Intel G3258 – Haswell Unlocked – This is a great entry level processor, one of the cheapest Intel processor which has the ability to over-clock. It can reach the performance of core i3 when aggressively over-clocked. If you are building your gaming Rig for the first time you can simply leave this processor and move to my next suggestion that is FX 4300. If you don’t want to get into the over-clocking, FX 4300 is also a good choice.

Most of the low end Intel processors without the “K” series does not have the ability to overclock.  However this Pentium Anniversary edition G3258 has overclocking capability.

You may need to pair it with a board like ASUS H81M-K Motherboard (Overclocking Needs Bios Update), to realize it’s full potential.

Even if you don’t wish to overclock it a good processor to purchase for a start level gaming PC rig.

The caveat here is you may have to spend Rs. 1,500 to buy an after market cooler to overclock this little beast. The better option can be to spend the same amount and get a better processor, if you wish to stay away from OC.

Key Specs for Intel G3258
  • Architecture – Intel Haswell.
  • Socket Type – LGA 1150
  • Clock Speed – 3.2Ghz base frequency, can be overclocked 4.0 Ghz easily.
  • Cores – 2 Cores without Hyper threading.
  • TDP – 53 watts
  • Process –  22 Nm

This is one of the cheapest true gaming processor which you can use for start level gaming PC build. If your budget is around Rs. 30,000 (Gaming PC BUILD Rs. 30,000).

AMD FX 4300 4-Core Black Edition

Price Rs. 5500

AMD FX 4300 processor

Next we have on the list is the AMD FX 4300 the 4 core processor with 32 nanometer die shrink design. It comes with the AMD turbo Boost technology. Processor has 4MB L2 and 4MB L3 Cache.

Key Specs for AMD FX 4-Core Black Edition
  • Architecture – Bulldozer.
  • Socket Type – AM 3+
  • Clock Speed – 3.8 Ghz base frequency, can be overclocked 4.4 Ghz easily.
  • Cores – 4 Cores
  • TDP – 95 watts.
  • Process –  32 Nm

It can be an ideal companion if you are looking to build a Gaming PC around Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 40,000.

Compared to the Intel G3258 at stock level, you may find FX 4300 outperform the G3258.

Overclocking FX 4300 is fairly easy, you may use the stock processor cooler for mild overclocking.

I would recommend you to buy a better low end cooler like Deep Cool Gamaxx 300 in case you want to push it up to 4.5 GHz to keep the temperatures in the safe zone.

Read more on how we overclocked the Core i5 using the Hyper 212X aftermarket cooler.

You can buy Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2 Motherboard along with the FX 4300 processor.  Read more about building a Gaming PC Build for budget of Rs. 40000.

Intel Core i3 – 3.4 GHz LGA 1150 i3 4130

Price Rs. 7450

9 Best Processors Gaming PC Build India 2015

Moving higher to the second last processor for the start level gaming PC segment. We have the Intel Core i3 3.4 Ghz LGA 1150 socket based Dual Core Haswell Processor.  This is a 4th Generation of Intel processor which are highly energy efficient and offers great gaming performance.

You don’t need to overclock the processor, it simply gives you best gaming experience out of the box. Pair it with a solid motherboard like Gigabyte H87M-D3H   and a strong GPU like MSI R9 270X and you can enjoy gaming on 720p everything maxed out.

For some of the latest gaming titles like watch dogs, GTA 5 , Assassin Creed Rogue etc. Assassin’s Creed Unity can be a pain no doubt even with the fanciest of hardware.

You can easily play all the games like Fifa 2015,  DOTA 2 , Battlefield 4 , Hardline , CSGO with this motherboard, Graphics card and Processor combination.

Key Specs for Intel Core i3 4130 LGA 1150
  • Architecture – Intel Haswell.
  • Socket Type – LGA 1150
  • Clock Speed – 3.4 Ghz base frequency.
  • Cores – 2 Cores with Hyper threading technology 4 Threads.

Moving to our last suggestion in the entry level processors, we have the 6 Core Black edition AMD FX 6300.

AMD FX 6300 Black Edition

Price Rs. 7700

AMD FX 6300

AMD FX 6300 is a very capable processor and one of the most value for money processors in the AMD’s portfolio.  It is excellent not only for gaming but many other tasks which uses more than 2 Cores.

The 6 Core FX 6300 is a cool customer for video/image editing and will benefit little from DirectX 12 which may help it to use the additional cores in future games.

However, it has a higher TDP than Intel Core i3 and as far as the gaming is concerned it matches Intel core i3 in most titles.

You can choose either of the two processors, will not find much of a performance difference between them in real-world gaming.

Key Specs for Intel Core i3 4130 LGA 1150
  • Architecture – Intel Haswell.
  • Socket Type – LGA 1150.
  • Clock Speed – 3.5 with Maximum Turbo Speed of 4.1.
  • Cores – 6 Cores
  • TDP – 95 watts.
  • Process –  32 Nm
  • Memory Supported RAM – DDR3-1333/1600.

  7. Can i use I5 4690 ? Is there any significant change in performance?
Also Can i use Gtx 960 instead of 970 as price difference is huge. Will it support modern games?
