The Finnish tech giant is on the verge of resurgence. From 2010 the legendary firm begun to lose, and finally in the year 2014, Microsoft bought the rights for 10 years, to sell Nokia branded smartphones.
In the year 2015, Nokia purchased the French mobile manufacturer, Alcatel- lucent. This put a hope in hearts of millions of NOKIA fans (including me) of a possible return. Later on HMD global acquired the rights to use the Nokia brand name and sell smartphones globally.
Now it’s confirmed that a mix of smart phones are to be released in the Q1 of 2017 and are likely to get showcased at the Mobile World Congress 2017. Three devices named Nokia D1C, Nokia P and Nokia Z2 Plus are expected to hit markets next year.
There are many tales floating about the comeback projects. Here are some of the news, sneak peaks for you.. But these are all just rumors so, you need to take them with a pinch of salt. Couple of days back we wrote about if Nokia Can Become a leading brand again and my old Nokia smartphones.
Nokia 6 Success
Nokia is back with a bang and the interest people have shown for the first smartphone Nokia 6 is overwhelming.
Their recent offering Nokia 6 went to become a huge hit in the Chinese market. It got sold out in seconds every time it was up for grabs. The smartphone is yet available in China Only though HMD is planning to get the device to other markets like India.
Nokia Brand – Nokia was one of the worlds top brand the space that is now occupied by Apple. They had a 60% plus market share but now it is Zero, it could be the greatest comeback by any brand if they play the cards right.
Nokia has already sent invites for their event that is going to happen at the MWC 2017 for 26 Feb 2017. Along with the new smartphone launches they can also announce the global and country specific availability of the new Nokia smartphones.
MWC Nokia Smartphone Launch
The alleged devices which are expected to launch at the MWC 2017 include – Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and a homage to the Nokia 3310 as well. There are more devices rumored like the Flagship Nokia P1 which can launch later in May or June. There are also news about a Nokia 8 smartphones which can also be launched.

Nokia 3 (Starting Range Budget Phone)
The Nokia 3 will be a watered down version of the mid-ranger Nokia 6. It’ll sport a 5.2 inch HD display. The phone will run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SOC along with Adreno 308 GPU.
The processor is paired with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. Which can be further expanded with the help of micro SD cards.
The phone will come with 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera. Overall its a decently spec smartphone for the entry-level market. It’ll also come with Android N v7.0 out of the box.
The Nokia 3 would allegedly be priced at EUR 149 (approx Rs 10,500).
Nokia 5 (Mid Range Nokia Mobile)
Upcoming Nokia Phones 2017 – Nokia 5 : The Nokia 5 will feature a similar spec sheet but with slightly powerful SOC. It’s rumored to be priced around EUR 199 (approx Rs 14,000).
Its made of metal clad and has a uni-body design. The sturdiness of metal and absence of plastic caps for better signals indicate the same old trustworthy build from Nokia.
It flaunts a 5.5 inch FHD display with 2.5D curved glass on top. The display is also accompanied by off-screen navigation buttons and a fingerprint sensor imbedded in the home button itself.
It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset coupled with Adreno 505 GPU. Surprisingly, it packs in 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
There’s 16MP rear camera with PDAF and dual tone LED flash. At front it’ll feature an 8MP selfie shooter.
The phone runs Android N v7.0 out of the box and has a Chinese UI on top. There’s Dolby Atmos integrated for crisp and punchy sound output. All this hardware is powered by a decently sized 3000 mah battery along with fast charging capability.
Nokia 8 (High End Nokia Smartphone)
The Nokia 8 is a much expansive offering compared to other series.
Design wise the phone flaunts a metal body and a similar design cue inspired from the Lumia phones. The same old round camera lens at the back surrounded by a thick round black casing. Astoundingly, it sports a near bezel less display like the upcoming Samsung S8 and LG G6.
It sports a 5.7 inch QHD Super AMOLED display. It’s likely to feature a 24MP rear camera along with 12MP selfie shooter. One can expect 2 variants, 64GB and 128GB offerings.
According to JD.com listing the phone might be touted for CNY 3,188 (approx Rs 31,000).
Nokia P1 (Flagship Nokia Smartphone)
Upcoming Nokia Phones 2017 – Nokia P1 : While the Nokia P1 is going to be the most expensive variant from the lot. The P1 will also be the flagship from Nokia which will release this year to compete with other competitors.
Our earlier article on Nokia P1 has given us a hint of how the phone will look. It will come with 5.3 inch display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.0 on top.
Spec wise the phone will pack the latest and the greatest.
Nokia P1 is a Big Deal
There’s the high end Qualcomm 835 chipset with 6 GB of RAM. Which indicates that the phone will release sometime in Summer. As Samsung will pack in the latest chipset in the upcoming S8 series, which might release sometime in April.
It’ll also feature 22.6MP rear camera with Zeiss lens. The P1 will also be IP57 certified which will make it somewhat worthy enough to compete with Samsung’s IP ratings. Powering the phone will be 3500 mAh battery pack with Quick Charge 4.0 capability.
There’ll also be a 128 GB and 256 GB variants priced at $800 (approx Rs 55,000) and $950 (approx Rs 65,000) respectively.
Several concept videos on Nokia P1 indicate a complete metal body with fingerprint sensor, and many more exciting features for the ultimate comeback of the legendary Nokia.
Nokia 3310 (Budget Feature Phone From Nokia)
There are also strong rumors that Nokia can launch the Nokia 3300 (2017) edition which will be a feature phone to pay tribute to the worlds strongest smartphone ever. It is likely to get launched with basic functions and may not be an Android based device.
The Original Nokia 3310 was launched in year 2000, it is 16 years since the launch of legendary phone still lot of curiosity and interest is there for the phone among Nokia users.
Nokia 6 (Mid Range Mobile Launched in China)
Nokia 6 was launched in January 2017 and comes with 5.5 inch display with Full HD Resolution (1920*1080) along with the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.
The smartphone runs on the latest Android Nougat 7.0 OS. The Nokia 6 is powered by the Octa – Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor clocked at 1.4 GHz and comes with the Adreno 505 GPU.
There is 64 GB of internal storage which can be expanded to 256 GB using the Micro – SD card. The smartphone is equipped with 4 GB RAM to efficiently handle the Multi-tasking.
The Nokia 6 comes with a 16 Mega Pixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and a Dual Tone Flash, there is a 8 Mega pixel front selfie camera to click selfies.
The Dual Sim smartphone comes with 4G LTE as well as VOLTE support and has a thickness of 8.4 mm and weighs 169 grams.
Nokia 6 comes with a robust build and frame with 3000 mAH battery capacity to ensure all day battery life. The smartphone is priced at Rs. 17,000 or (1699 CNY).
All these specifications barring Nokia 6 are not confirmed at this stage so one must take them with a grain of salt.

Nokia E1 2017
Nokia is alleged to launch a new smartphone code named TA-1000 (sounds more like a terminator model), though it is referred as Nokia E1 by some of the leaksters. HMD Global is expected to unveil 3-4 new models at the MWC 2017.
The Nokia E1 could be smartphone meant for professional, as the older E series of Nokia smartphones was. The Nokia E1 is expected to come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 series processor (either with SD 625 or the SD 652).
The smartphone is alleged to come with 32 GB of internal storage and 4 GB RAM. It will have Dual Sim support along with 4G LTE as well as VOLTE connectivity options. As per the leaked document the smartphone will come with 5V/2A charger, which hints at fast charging support. The Nokia E1 will run on the Android Nougat 7.0.
