There are many Asus TUF gaming laptops that are available in the market with different specs and configurations, and in this post, I will try to share which are the best among them.
The latest Asus TUF laptops are powered by the Intel 12th Gen or AMD Ryzen 5000 series processors.
Avoid Intel 11th Gen or AMD Ryzen 4000 Series – TUF Models
- The Intel 11th Gen or AMD Ryzen 4000 processor-based TUF laptops are 1-2 years old and unless there is a steep discount; you shouldn’t consider them.
- Notably, the Intel 12th Gen processors offer almost a 100% improvement in multi-core performance as these have up to 14 Cores instead of 4-6 cores on the older generation processors.
- The AMD Ryzen 4000 series has a poor single-core performance in comparison to the Intel 12th Gen or even the Ryzen 5000 series, so I will suggest you go with the latest processor when buying a laptop.
Let’s first check out the Asus TUF Dash F15
ASUS TUF Dash F15 laptop launch in India – Specs, Price, Details:
Asus has added a new gaming laptop to its TUF series – ASUS TUF Dash F15 powered by the Intel 12th Gen Core i5 and the Core i7 processors.
Also, the new Asus laptop comes with a more refined design and is available in White or Black color options. The white color looks stunning but may catch dust and get dirty after a few months, I am tempted to go with the black version.
Key Highlights:
- 12th Gen Intel Core-H series processor
- Display – Up to 165 Hz refresh rate and 3 ms response rate
- Up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 GPU
- RAM – 16 GB DDR5 RAM
- 1 TB NVME SSD
Let’s discuss the specification, features, and availability of a newly launched ASUS TUF Dash F15 gaming laptop.
Asus TUF Dash F15 – Intel Core i5, RTX 3050, 8 GB Ram, and 512 GB SSD – Price Rs. 90,990
There are different models that start with the basic Intel Core i5 processor model – Asus TUF Dash F15 – (FX517ZC-HN036WS)
The ASUS TUF Dash F15 sports 15.6 inches FHD display (16:9 aspect ratio) with an IPS panel and has a 144 Hz refresh rate. The display offers a 62.5% sRGB color gamut (not color accurate) and a mediocre 250 nits brightness.
Powering the gaming machine is the 12th gen Intel Core i5-12450H Octa-Core processor – which clocks at 2.0 GHz Base and has a maximum turbo boost frequency of up to 4.40 GHz. It has 8 cores (4P and 4E cores) with a 12 MB smart cache. Notably, the Intel Core i5 12450 H is not as powerful if we compare it to the 10 Core 12650H or the 14 Core 12700H.
The notebook runs on Windows 11 Home. It pairs with up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 graphics card – clocks at up to 1550 Mhz at 75 W with the support of ROG Boost technology and also has the MUX switch which is an excellent addition in this price range.
One of the positives is that it comes with the latest 8 GB DDR5 RAM (4800 MHz) and there are two empty slots that you can use to add up to 30 GB more ram. A good option for content creators and video editors.
Also, it has a 512 GB PCIe 3.0 M.2 SSD and there is an empty slot that allows you to add an SSD later if you wish to expand the storage.
It features a 76 WHr battery that is large considering the machine weighs only 2.0 Kg. It is not too bulky considering the internals and 15.6-inch screen size.
Ports and Connectivity
The Notebook comes with WIFI 6 support and also has Bluetooth 5.2 support. There are plenty of ports – 3.5mm Combo Audio Jack, HDMI 2.0b, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, and two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A lastly it has an RJ45 LAN port which is usually missing on most laptops these days.
Also, there are Dual speakers that can produce decent sound but are not comparable to some of the better laptops.
Also, the keyboard looks great with a praiseworthy layout, backlighting, and key travel.
PROS
- Latest Intel 12th Gen Processor and Nvidia RTX 3050 GPU – Good 1080p Gaming performance
- Expandable Ram slots and SSD Slot
- Latest DDR5 Ram
- Fast 144 Hz Monitor – Good for Gaming
- New Design – looks clean and much better.
CONS
- Average Display with 250 Nits peak brightness and it is not color accurate.
- Bit expensive considering the specs and display
- The TGP of the GPUs on the Asus TUF Dash 15 is lower than some other gaming notebooks.
Recommendation – The Asus TUF Dash F15 with Intel Core i5 12th gen and RTX 3050 is a good notebook and the new design also looks visually appealing. The laptop fails to impress when it comes to the display. In this price range a 300 nits, 100% sRGB display would have sealed the deal for me. However, if you are mostly buying it for gaming it is still a cool option.
Asus TUF Dash F15 – Intel Core i7, RTX 3050/3060/3070, 16 GB Ram, and 512 GB SSD – Price Starts at Rs. 1,11,990
Above we have seen the Asus TUF Dash F15 with the Intel 12th Gen Processor, now we have 3 models that you can purchase with the Intel i7 12th gen and with different GPU, Display, Ram, and SSD options.
Asus TUF Dash F15 – Model No – FX517ZC-HN107WS
The laptop is available for Rs. 1,11,990 and is the cheapest TUF Dash F15 with the Intel Core i7 processor. It comes with the Nvidia RTX 3050 Graphics card with 4 GB VRAM and also has 16 GB of DDR5 Ram and 512 GB of SSD Storage.
Notably, the Intel Core i7-12650 H is a 10 Core (6P-cores and 4E-cores) processor that has a 2.3 GHz Base Clock Speed and a 4.7 GHz Max Boost Speed with 24MB Cache.
The NoteBook has the same display as the i5 version and other specs and features are also similar. The only upgrade is the i7 processor and 16 GB Ram.
It is a pretty expensive gaming Notebook and I would have liked a better display.
Asus TUF Dash F15 – Model No – FX517ZM-HN041WS
Next, we have a more powerful model that comes with the Nvidia RTX 3060 graphics card. The RTX 3060 offers 6GB of GDDR6 VRAM and comes with a 1452MHz clock speed with a TGP of 105Watts.
The presence of RTX 3060 will allow you to play modern games like GTA 5, Battlefield V, Forza Horizon 5, CyberPunk, Halo Infinite, Knockout City, etc on high or ultra settings.
Notably, the rest of the specs are the same as the above model – Core i7, 16 GB ram, and 512 GB SSD.
The laptop is available for Rs. 1,26,990. Unfortunately, Asus is using the same 250 nits panel on this expensive machine making it hard to recommend considering the eye-watering price.
Asus TUF Dash F15 – Model No – FX517ZC-HN107WS
Next, we have the top-of-the-line Asus TUF Dash F15 that comes with the Nvidia RTX 3070 graphics card. The RTX 3070 has 8GB GDDR6 VRAM and comes with a clock speed of 1340 MHz with a TGP of 105W.
The RTX 3070 can easily max out all the latest titles and is even future-proof. The notebook also has 1 TB SSD storage up from 512 GB on other models.
Also, there is a much better display on this mean machine. There is a 15.6-inch HD (2560 x 1440) panel with a 16:9 aspect ratio and a 300nits peak brightness. Also, it has a higher 165Hz refresh rate, offers the coveted 100% DCI-P3 Color Gamut, and also has support for Adaptive-Sync.
The big downside for this machine is the enormous price tag – it costs Rs. 1,64,990 making it too pricey for the specs it offers.
Asus could have used the Intel 12700H at least with 14 cores instead of the 12650H on this machine to make it worth the price.
Nevertheless, that’s the entire lineup of new Asus Notebooks. I like the new design and Intel processors but the subpar monitor is a disappointment.
Next, we have the Asus TUF Gaming F15 laptops that are also powered by the Intel 12th Gen Processors.
ASUS TUF Gaming F15 Laptop (Model No- FX577ZE-HN056W)
ASUS TUF Gaming F15 laptop comes loaded with powerful Intel 12th gen Core i7-12700H processor, that clocks at 2.3 GHz and can be boosted up to 4.7 GHz maximum turbo frequency.
The 14-Core processor has 6P Cores and has got 8E Cores and a massive 24 MB cache memory.
For graphics, it has a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti with 4 GB VRAM.
The gaming notebook has 15.6 inches FHD (1920*1080p) LED-Backlit display. It has a 144 Hz refresh rate, 250 nits brightness, anti-glare, and 45% NTSC color gamut.
Additionally, it comes pre-loaded with Windows 11 Home operating system but doesn’t come with an MS Office license.
The laptop weighs 2.20 kg and measures a thickness of 25 mm. It packs a huge 90 Whr battery which has a backup of up to 7 hours.
Moreover, it pairs 16 GB DDR5 RAM (4800 MHz), upgradeable up to 32 GB using the SODIMM slot. For storage, it has 512 GB M.2 PCIe NVMe 3.0 SSD (blazing fast). Also, has an expandable slot.
The machine has a one-zone RGB backlit keyboard. It has a 720p HD CMOS module web camera.
For connectivity, it supports WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. The port section includes – USB 2.0, 3* USB 3.0, HDMI, Ethernet, and headphone/microphone combo jack.
The NoteBook is available for Rs. 108,990 on Amazon, Flipkart, and other e-commerce stores.
Overall, it is a decent laptop, a bit heavy than the Asus TUF Dash F15 but comes with a better processor and is also cheaper. The display is lackluster and considering the price, I would have loved a better panel.
There are two higher variants available for the Asus TUF Gaming F15 Notebook.
ASUS TUF Gaming F15 (2022) – (Model no – FX507ZM-HF068WS)
The higher variant is powered by the Nvidia RTX 3060 Graphics card with 6 GB GDDR6 VRAM and comes with a MUX Switch.
The GPU offers a higher clock speed and TGP than the Asus TUF Dash F15. The RTX 3060 is clocked at 1752 MHz and has a TGP of 140 Watts.
You can expect better gaming performance from the Asus TUF Gaming F15 over the TUF Dash F15.
Also, you are getting 1 TB of Storage instead of 512 GB on the base model. The Notebook has 16 GB ram which is user-expandable.
Also, the laptop comes with an improved display that offers 100% sRGB and has a crazy high 300Hz refresh rate.
The Notebook is pricey and is currently available for Rs. 142,990.
In addition to the above two models, Asus has another model (FX577ZM-HQ067WS) that comes with the same specs as mentioned above but with a WQHD display panel.
The Notebook has a 2K WQHD (2560*1440) pixels display panel that has a 165Hz refresh rate and also has a 100% sRGB color gamut.
The Notebook is available for Rs. 1,56,990.
You can also check out the new Asus G14, Asus G15, M16, and Strix Laptops.
Asus TUF Gaming F17 (Intel 12th Gen, RTX 3060)
The 17.3-inch TUF Gaming F17 is the larger variant of the Asus TUF Gaming F15 that comes with a huge display.
As the name suggests the Notebook comes with a huge 17.3 inches, FHD (1920*1080) panel, with a 45% NTSC color gamut. The display has a 144 Hz refresh rate and comes with adaptive sync.
The Notebook is powered by the Intel Core i7 12700H and there is an Nvidia RTX 3060 graphics card with a clock speed of 1752MHz at 140W TGP.
The Notebook comes with 16 GB DDR5 RAM (4800 Mhz) and also has 512 GB SSD Storage. Also, it has the same 90 WHr battery capacity.
All other specs and features are similar to the TUF Gaming F15. The F17 measures 25 mm in thickness and weighs 2.6 Kg.
There are two major benefits of buying the 17-inch model:
- You get more screen space to enjoy games or do multi-tasking.
- The cooling can be better due to the larger internal space.
